About Tonya Ratz
Tonya Ratz has considered herself an artist since the age of four at
which point she didn't let the fact that she was very bad at drawing stop
her from doing it. (Eventually she became much better at it.) She went
to college to pursue her dream and decided to become an art teacher in
order to share her love for art with as many people as possible. During
this time she spent her summers running the ceramics program for a camp
in upstate New York. After graduating from Illinois State in 2004 with
her Art teaching certificate she taught in the public schools of Baltimore
City for a year. Upon moving to Arlington she began teaching art for a
private after school program in the Boston area as well as teaching a
Saturday ceramic class for the Redbrick Art Studio in Beverly. She has
taught all ages from 3 yrs. to adult. When asked what she specializes
in she will tell you "Everything" or "Whatever I can get my hands on."
But she has been known to enjoy drawing, painting, pastels, collage, sculpture,
and ceramics in particular.
